Bio
The Songs of the Birds Series was inspired while listening to a bird sing in a wooded area along the shore of Lake Michigan. Since that defining moment, Carol has endeavored to transform the sound of birdsong to the two-dimensional surface. Her desire is to interpret the song in color, rhythm, and the illusion of time. Each bird's color is first matched to the bird and then the painting is composed while listening to and looking at the bird's song. The paintings are airbrushed because of the shimmering effect of color when it is sprayed. Recently she has added painting individual birds with ink on claybord.

Carol shows her work in Local, AAWA, and National Events. She had a solo show at The Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York, in 2012. In 2013, she was invited to the Summer Invitational Exhibition at the Essex Gallery in Essex, New York, at The Toledo Museum of Art Group Show, the Painting Center in New York, and Gifts of Art at University of Michigan Hospital, Main Lobby, in Ann Arbor, among others. She has been awarded Third Prize at the 2014 Detroit Artists Market Show. Carol's work is in the collections of the University of Michigan Hospitals, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Eastern Michigan University, ABN AMRO World Headquarters and private collectors.

Carol has served as both Secretary and Treasurer of Ann Arbor Women Artists. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and has lived in the Ann Arbor area most of her adult life and received both BFA and MA degrees from Eastern Michigan University. She continues taking art classes from various venues such as Washtenaw Community College and the University of Michigan.
